Electronic Arts Revealed More Information About The Grounds – Open-World Mode In EA Sports FC 27

Electronic Arts has concluded its Deep Dive series for EA Sports FC 27—the latest installment in its football simulator franchise. The latest video focused on what is perhaps the game’s highlight—the Grounds—a mode featuring a fully-fledged open world.

In a new video entitled ‘ Official The Grounds Deep Dive,’ the developers have provided a more detailed look at what the open world in EA Sports FC 27 will look like and what players will be able to do. The Grounds aims to combine street football with professional football, allowing players from all around the world to create their own character, customize them, and take part in various challenges to identify their strongest abilities, which, incidentally, can be improved. Players can look forward to a variety of modes—including 1v1, 2v2, and 3v3—as well as various mini-games where you need to score as many points as possible, test your accuracy, and much more. All of these are grouped under a subcategory called ‘Kickabouts.’

As for the open world itself, The Grounds features a fully-fledged game city that you can freely explore. Various parts of the world feature mini-games and challenges you can take part in, as well as stores where you can buy clothes for your character. EA has also revealed that The Grounds will feature four mentors to help players get to grips with the mode. These are Alex Hunter, the main character from the story mode The Journey in FIFA 17–19, as well as three real-life footballers: Kylian Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, and Paulo Dybala. Despite the skepticism of former Electronic Arts developer Renzo Barraza regarding The Grounds, the mode is proving to be of some interest so far. Previously, the studio had already shared gameplay details for EA Sports FC 27, the career mode, and more recently showcased the features of Ultimate Team in the new installment.

EA Sports FC 27 releases September 25 on PC, Xbox One, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Switch, and Switch 2. The Grounds mode will only be available on PC and current-gen consoles (Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2).
