More Footage of The Grounds, Open-World Mode In EA Sports FC 27, Has Been Leaked

One of the key features of the upcoming EA Sports FC 27 will be The Grounds—a separate, brand-new mode that serves as a fully-fledged open-world sandbox, where players can take part in various competitions against others, customize and level up their character, and move around the city with complete free rein. Although Electronic Arts has not revealed much, except for The Grounds Deep Dive, which was released earlier this week, a new leak has revealed fresh footage of The Grounds.

Lucky owners of the EA Sports FC 27 beta version, who have also gained access to The Grounds, have shared new footage by posting these clips on X social media. In one of the videos, you can see your customized character moving around a virtual city, much like in open-world games, and joining an 11v11 match by literally walking through the turnstile into the stadium. In the second clip, we see another part of the city, a demonstration of what you can do in one of the stores, and a glimpse of a mini-game where the aim is to strike a ball in mid-air and hit the target. As this is only an early version of EA Sports FC 27, some bugs can also be spotted in the videos.

FC 27 Open-World Gameplay

EA has previously confirmed that in The Grounds you can take part in various game modes, including 1v1, 2v2, 3v3, and Rush, as well as playing basketball, popping balloons, and much more. In addition, your character’s mentors in the city will be real-life footballers—Kylian Mbappé, Chloe Kelly, and Paulo Dybala—as well as Alex Hunter, the main character from the story mode ‘The Journey’ in FIFA 17–19.

Previously, the studio had already shared gameplay details for EA Sports FC 27, the career mode, and more recently showcased the features of Ultimate Team in the new installment. This week it also emerged that Electronic Arts has changed hands —the company is now owned by the Saudi Arabian Public Investment Fund, Silver Lake, and Affinity Partners.
