Vivo Keyd Stars Acquires Miners Slot at CBLOL
Brazilian esports organization Vivo Keyd Stars has acquired the Miners seat in the Brazilian League of Legends Championship (CBLOL) franchise, according to Esports Insider. According to the authors, this information was confirmed by Vivo Keyd Stars president Pedro Schmidt and club vice president Edu Kim.
It is noteworthy that most recently, the esports organizations Vivo Keyd and Stars Horizon announced the creation of a joint management structure , forming one joint venture. However, the parties reported that Stars Horizon entered into an agreement to purchase the slot from Miners prior to the official announcement of the merger with Vivo Keyd in late August/early September.
The total cost of a seat in the franchise is reported to be approximately $2,000,000. However, this has not been confirmed by Vivo Keyd Stars or Miners. In addition, these numbers are much more than the $750,000 that the Miners organization paid for the franchise in 2020. According to Vivo Keyd Stars officials, the organization's gaming house in Sao Paulo has already been built with the intention of supporting the League of Legends team in it.
Interestingly, the Miners club was ready to sell its place in the CBLOL franchise back in August - then the Fluxo organization was a contender for the slot. However, Fluxo went on to acquire the slot from Rensga Esports.
Vivo Keyd Stars returns to the Brazilian League of Legends Championship after a two-year hiatus. Despite being one of the first teams in the League of Legends scene, Riot Games dropped it from the franchise in 2020.
In turn, Miners is leaving League of Legends after several disagreements: first, when the organization terminated its brand licensing agreement with Cruzeiro Football Club in March 2021, and then when the parent company of its name sponsor, Netshoes, bought the KaBuM! team owner KaBuM! Esports.
