Take-Two Forced Fan to Apologize for AI GTA 6 Footage by Threatening Legal Action

When it comes to the content of Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated video game of 2026, a lot of gamers prefer to post fake screenshots and videos purporting to show actual gameplay, thinking they’ll get away with it. But a recent appeal by Rockstar Games’ parent company, Take-Two Interactive, might make players think twice before creating this kind of content.

Over the past few months, X social media user and GTA 6 leaker GTASixJoker has revealed plenty of the game’s screenshots, which turned out to be faked and made with AI tools. It seems Take-Two has lost its patience because the user posted a letter sent by company representatives on his page. It states that the user must stop creating fake GTA 6 screenshots using artificial intelligence, as this infringes on copyright. Otherwise, Take-Two would have sued him. But GTASixJoker didn’t hesitate, issued a public apology, and it’s unlikely we’ll see any further attempts from him to pass off wishful thinking as reality. You can check out his statement below:

“Hello everyone, as you probably already know if you have me on discord, I received a cease and desist letter from Take Two regarding my recent fake GTA 6 AI Images. I want to clarify that the use of any Take-Two or Rockstar Games intellectual property is strictly prohibited and may violate copyright laws (including sections 17 U.S.C § 106 and 17 U.S.C § 501).

We have reached a resolution where I need to make a public apology for my actions, including disrespecting the Rockstar Games team and the work they have been doing for over the past seven years. So here it is:

I sincerely apologize to Take-Two for the wrongful use of their copyrighted materials and registered trademarks. I acknowledge that training AI models with protected content may violate applicable laws and regulations. I encourage others not to engage in actions that compromise authenticity, ethical standards, or fair use of AI.

From now on I will stop posting content that might seem controversial such as fake AI-generated images or anything that could be mistaken for Grand Theft Auto VI leaks.”

The message from GTASixJoker could also be addressed to other GTA 6 leakers, and it looks like from now on, you shouldn't post fake screenshots of the game, or you might receive a warning. This also applies to those who post leaks about the game, whether they’re true or fake. Either way, this could be crucial in ensuring we learn as little as possible about the game before its November release or before the official reveal this summer when the GTA 6 marketing campaign kicks off.

Speaking of Take-Two, recently the company confirmed it will hold another round of financial reports for the fourth quarter and 2026 fiscal year, scheduled for May 21. We are unlikely to receive any new footage of GTA 6 but might get some information about the game. For instance, after the latest quarterly earnings call in November, the CEO of Take-Two, Strauss Zelnick, confirmed that Grand Theft Auto VI is set to release on November 19 and will not be delayed once again.

For now, you can also find out everything we know about GTA 6 so far, about the story, gameplay, map, open world, platforms, and more— here.
