Hitman TV Series Adaptation Officially Cancelled
The TV series adaptation of Hitman was announced almost a decade ago, in November 2017. Hulu, alongside Fox 21 Television Studios, was set to produce the TV show about iconic Agent 47, with Derek Kolstad (John Wick, Nobody, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier) chosen as its writer.
After a big pause surrounding the TV show, we finally have some update about Hitman’s adaptation… but it’s actually a disappointing one. Recently, Derek Kolstad attended the South by Southwest conference by promoting the movie Normal, where he served as screenwriter. Representatives of The Direct portal have asked Kolstad about the Hitman adaptation, but he revealed the show is now cancelled, as you can check below:
“It's a little bit of a dagger in the chest. Who knows nowadays, but it's dead in the water. But, man, I love that thing, because I love that game and I love that character. But the problem is, I can write a screenplay, but no one's going to go out and buy the screenplay. You've got to make the movie, you've got to make the show. But nothing's happening with that man, sadly."
Although Hitman TV series is not happening, IO Interactive will continue to work on the same-titled game series, even despite the release of their new title, 007 First Light, this May on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch 2.
