Google Play Introduces Game Trials to Let Players Test Paid Games

Google has introduced a new feature called Game Trials in the Google Play Store, allowing users to try certain paid games before deciding whether to purchase them. For now, the feature is available only for a limited number of premium mobile titles, but Google plans to expand it in the future to Google Play Games for PC as well.

How Game Trials Work

On supported game pages, users will see a “Try” button that allows them to launch a trial version of the game. When selected, the platform shows how long the game can be played before requiring a purchase.

Google demonstrated the feature using the survival horror game Dredge as an example. Players can access the game for up to 60 minutes, after which they must either buy the full version or remove the game from their device.

New Indie Games and PC-Optimized Titles

Alongside the Game Trials rollout, Google announced that several new premium games from independent developers will soon be released on the platform. Upcoming titles include Moonlight Peaks, Sledding Game, and Low-Budget Repairs.

The company has also introduced a new section in the Play Store dedicated to games optimized for Windows PCs. Users can add titles from this category to their wishlist and receive notifications when they become available or go on sale.

Gemini AI Assistant and Community Features

Another addition is Play Games Sidekick, which brings Google’s Gemini AI assistant into certain games downloaded from the platform. The AI can provide helpful information, tips, and tools during gameplay without requiring players to perform manual searches.

For players who prefer advice from other gamers instead of AI suggestions, Google has also added community posts to some game pages. These posts allow users to share tips, experiences, and discussions. At the moment, however, the community feature is available only in English.
