Fortnite Returns to Google Play Worldwide on March 19 After 5-Year Ban
Epic Games has officially confirmed when Fortnite will make its long-awaited return to the Google Play Store for users outside the United States.
The popular battle royale was originally removed from both Google Play on Android and Apple’s App Store on iOS in August 2020. This followed Epic’s decision to introduce its own in-game payment system, which violated the policies of both platforms and sparked a prolonged legal dispute.
After nearly five years of court proceedings, Epic Games reached a settlement with Google. As a result, Fortnite first reappeared in the U.S. Play Store, with the company signaling that a global rollout would follow soon after.
Now, Epic has announced that Fortnite will officially return to the Play Store worldwide on March 19. The relaunch will coincide with the start of “Showdown,” the second season of Chapter 7, bringing fresh content to the game.
It’s worth noting that Fortnite had already begun its gradual return to mobile platforms earlier. With the launch of the Epic Games Store mobile app in summer 2024, the game became доступний on Android globally and on iOS within the European Union. It also made its comeback to the U.S. App Store last spring.
