Capcom Confirms Story DLC for Resident Evil Requiem
Capcom has officially confirmed that a story expansion DLC for Resident Evil Requiem is currently in development. The announcement came on March 10, when the game’s director Koshi Nakanishi shared a short video message thanking fans for their support of the latest entry in the Resident Evil series.
During the message, Nakanishi revealed that the development team is preparing additional content for the game, including the upcoming DLC expansion. Alongside the story update, Capcom also plans to introduce a photo mode and a new mini-game in future updates.
Rumors of DLC Circulated Before Launch
Speculation about additional content for Resident Evil Requiem had already been circulating on social media before the game’s release. Several insiders previously claimed that Capcom intended to expand the game’s story through DLC, possibly focusing on Alyssa Ashcroft, the mother of Grace Ashcroft, one of the title’s two main protagonists.
While these rumors surfaced before the game launched, it always seemed likely that Requiem would receive post-launch story content. Previous mainline titles in the series—Resident Evil 7 and Resident Evil Village—both received story expansions after their initial release.
New Content Planned for the Coming Months
In the video statement posted on the official Resident Evil social media accounts, Nakanishi highlighted recent improvements made to the game through updates and confirmed that Capcom intends to continue supporting Requiem with additional features.
The first additions will include a photo mode, something fans have been requesting since launch. Nakanishi also teased a new mini-game, which is expected to arrive in May as a surprise update for players.
The director then confirmed that Capcom is actively working on a new story expansion, which will further explore the world and narrative of Resident Evil Requiem.
DLC Still in Early Development
While the DLC has now been confirmed, players may have to wait some time before it arrives. According to Nakanishi, the expansion is still in development and will “take some time” before it is ready. This suggests the project is currently in the early stages, meaning more details about the story and release window are likely still months away.
Resident Evil Continues Its Strong Momentum
The announcement comes during a particularly successful period for the Resident Evil franchise, which recently surpassed 183 million copies sold worldwide over its 30-year history.
Resident Evil Requiem has contributed significantly to that milestone. The game sold over 5 million copies within its first five days, making it the fastest-selling Resident Evil title to date. The previous record was held by Resident Evil 6, which sold 4.5 million copies in its first week.
More Resident Evil Projects May Be Coming
Even after three decades, the Resident Evil series continues to expand. Capcom has recently delivered several successful remakes alongside new mainline entries, keeping the franchise highly relevant in the modern gaming landscape.
According to various insider reports, the studio may also be working on additional projects, including a remake of the original Resident Evil and a potential Resident Evil: Code Veronica remake. However, these reports have not yet been officially confirmed by Capcom.
For now, fans can expect more content for Resident Evil Requiem in the future, with the upcoming photo mode, mini-game, and story DLC marking the next step in the game’s ongoing support.
