Skyblivion Release Date Pushed To Next Year As Developers Outline Final Steps
The Skyblivion release date has moved beyond its original 2025 target, with the development team now aiming to deliver the long-running fan remake next year. The announcement came through a new project update from TESRenewal, which confirmed that the mod will not meet its previously stated window as the team works through the last phase of production.
Project lead Rebelzize said the delay reflects remaining technical and content hurdles, noting that the team waited to confirm the shift until it could present a clear picture of what still needs to be completed.

The update video shows a project entering its final stretch. The world map is complete, backed by an interactive satellite version now available for players to explore. All quest dungeons have been rebuilt and finished, while the pool of random dungeons is nearing completion. Most cities are done as well, with the Imperial City standing out as the last major space still awaiting its final set of assets.
According to the team, the Imperial City’s remaining work is the key location-related blocker. Once those assets are in place, the developers expect to finish all environments by the end of the year. After that, work shifts to quest finalisation, navmesh tasks, and quality assurance as they roll into 2026.
Core asset production has largely wrapped. Weapons, armour, clothing, plants, clutter, and the majority of architecture are finished, leaving only low-priority items. UI development continues as the interface transitions toward a Skyrim-style layout. Systems work is also advancing, with the mechanics team refining gameplay based on internal feedback. Most primary systems are expected to reach completion by year’s end.
The developers plan to expand testing once the core structure settles, aiming to bring in wider player feedback ahead of release. One area that remains in flux is cinematics, where the team is seeking volunteers to complete a major scene that has yet to be finalized.
Once all components are functional, the team intends to focus heavily on polish. Rebelzize said the goal is to dedicate as much time as possible to balancing, bug fixing, and stability improvements before launch. This work will continue after release, with the developers planning to address player-reported issues and roll out additional updates.
The post-launch roadmap is already substantial. The team hopes to add custom content, restore DLC features from Oblivion such as Shivering Isles and Knights of the Nine, and a range of gameplay additions. Proposed features include spell crafting, Oblivion-style UI reskins, dynamic dungeons, expanded creature variety, new followers and hirelings, and an assortment of unique gear and spells. These updates depend on available resources but remain central to the project’s long-term goals.
Not every planned feature will ship at launch. Underwater combat, which the team had partially implemented, has been removed due to conflicts with animation mods and other technical issues. The developers said they hope to revisit the feature later if conditions allow.
Rebelzize closed the update by acknowledging the length of the project, which began more than a decade ago.
"We thank you all for your continued support of this ambitious project I started more than ten years ago," he said.
"And I really, genuinely cannot wait to get Skyblivion into your hands".
The mod now targets a release sometime next year, marking a significant milestone for one of the Elder Scrolls community’s most ambitious fan projects.
