The title was first revealed back in July, when pre-registration opened worldwide, followed by a limited soft launch in select regions this September. Now, the game is finally gearing up for its full release — and it’s shaping up to be a fresh spin on Capcom’s iconic horror universe.

Rebuild. Defend. Survive the Unknown Infection.

Co-developed by Aniplex and JOYCITY Corporation, Resident Evil: Survival Unit blends the tension of survival horror with the depth of real-time strategy gameplay.

Set in the Resident Evil universe, players take on the role of a survivor attempting to rebuild life after a devastating new infection wipes out an entire city. The story begins around an abandoned mansion, which serves as your main base of operations.

From there, you’ll have to rebuild facilities, manage resources, strengthen defenses, and conduct vital research — all while keeping your group of isolated survivors alive. Every decision matters, and every mistake can be fatal.

This is not just another zombie shooter — it’s a tactical test of survival under pressure.

Recruit, Assign, and Choose Who to Trust

Every survivor you recruit has unique skills — from combat and resource gathering to engineering and technology. Assigning them to the right tasks is crucial if you want your settlement to endure.

Familiar faces such as Leon S. Kennedy, Claire Redfield, and Jill Valentine are confirmed to appear, but you’ll also encounter entirely new survivor factions. The twist? You’ll have to choose whether to ally with them or compete for control of dwindling resources.

That balance between cooperation and rivalry adds a fresh layer of tension to the experience — a welcome evolution for long-time Resident Evil fans.

Expanding the Resident Evil Universe

For many fans, Survival Unit represents a different kind of Resident Evil story — one that steps outside the traditional action-horror formula. The developers describe it as an exclusive narrative that expands on the RE universe while offering new gameplay systems like real-time defense missions, customizable combat loadouts, and encounters with mutated creatures lurking in the dark.

It might not be the massive AAA project some fans expected, but it still looks like a thoughtful and strategic take on the survival horror genre — built to challenge both your reflexes and your resource management.

Global Launch Details

Resident Evil: Survival Unit will officially launch on November 18, 2025, for both Android and iOS. Players can now pre-register via the Google Play Store or App Store to receive early rewards at launch.

However, fans in Korea, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Macau, Vietnam, Indonesia, Myanmar, Brunei, and Mongolia will have to wait a bit longer — the game is expected to arrive in these regions in early 2026.
