Warner Bros. Montreal Announced New Layoffs
Multiple gaming studios have struggled over the past year with layoffs, especially Build a Rocket Boy, the developers of last year’ game MindsEye, and even Electronic Arts recently announced layoffs at companies that have been working on the Battlefield game series - DICE, Criterion Games, Ripple Effect Studios, and Motive Studio.
According to Eurogamer, Warner Bros. Montreal (Batman: Arkham Origins, Gotham Knights) has become the latest studio that has lost a couple of important employees. Specifically, there are few people who left the studio on Friday the 13th, as they announced it through their LinkedIn accounts.
- Camille Oliver Paquette – Level Designer of Gotham Knights;
- Ceri Young – Lead Screepwriter of Gotham Knights and Associate Director of a cancelled Wonder-Woman game;
- Nicolas Pereira-Poisson – Associate Producer;
Not only Warner Bros. Montreal but the parent company itself has been struggling in the gaming industry over the past few years. As mentioned in WB’s 2025 earnings report, by the first quarter, the company received a 48% decrease in games as they hadn't released any new projects and, moreover, canceled a DLC to Hogwarts Legacy and the above-mentioned Wonder Woman video game, developed by Monolith Productions.
Nevertheless, JB Perrette, the lead of Warner Bros. Discovery, which owns Warner Bros. Games, has previously teased that the “studio’s biggest franchises” will return in a couple of years. That could be the confirmed sequel of Hogwarts Legacy or even a new game in The Lord of the Rings universe, which is also rumored to be in the works.
