According to the new report from IGN, Electronic Arts has announced multiple layoffs in studios responsible for the Battlefield franchise—specifically DICE, Criterion Games, Ripple Effect Studios, and Motive Studio. It is not mentioning how many developers have left the companies.

The source is adding that Electronic Arts has decided to make these layoffs due to “realignment” of the Battlefield universe, but the studio will continue to support last year’s Battlefield 6. An Electronic Arts spokesperson has also spoken to IGN to clarify more, and you can check out his report below:

"We’ve made select changes within our Battlefield organization to better align our teams around what matters most to our community. Battlefield remains one of our biggest priorities, and we’re continuing to invest in the franchise, guided by player feedback and insights from Battlefield Labs."

Electronic Arts Announced Layoffs at Battlefield Studios 1

Released back in October, Battlefield 6 has had the best launch in the history of the franchise, with 7 million copies sold in three days. However, a few months after the players have started to criticize the game for its technical part and heavy monetization. Moreover, the developers even postponed the release of Season 2, which made some gamers indignant. Hopefully these layoffs will not have much influence on the future support of Battlefield 6.

Battlefield 6 is currently available on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5.
