EA FC 26 Introduces The World’s Game Tournament Ahead of the 2026 World Cup

With excitement building around the FIFA World Cup 2026, EA Sports has added a new way for players to experience the tournament atmosphere inside EA FC 26.

Following the release of The World’s Game Update, players can now take part in an unofficial World Cup-style tournament featuring licensed national teams, new presentation elements, updated stadiums, and expanded customization options.

The new tournament mode follows a format inspired by the 2026 World Cup, giving players the chance to guide their favorite national team through a full international competition.

EA Sports has included 53 officially licensed national teams, allowing both qualified and non-qualified nations to participate. This means players can recreate realistic tournament scenarios or build alternative “what if” versions of the competition by adding teams that are not part of the actual World Cup lineup.

The mode also introduces a refreshed interface, new visuals, and additional presentation details designed to make the tournament feel more authentic.

Custom Groups and Team Selection

Players can select from a wide range of licensed national teams, each with its own banner, short description, and list of achievements. This makes it easier to choose not only the biggest football nations but also underrated teams with interesting histories.

One of the key features is group customization. The default setup is based on the 2026 World Cup structure, but players can adjust the groups and swap in other licensed teams. This allows for custom tournament paths and alternative matchups that would not happen in the real competition.

Difficulty settings and team sheets can also be adjusted before starting the tournament, giving players full control over the experience.

New Stadiums and Presentation Updates

To match the World Cup atmosphere, EA has added several new stadiums connected to the 2026 host countries, including venues such as MetLife Stadium and Hard Rock Stadium.

The update also brings new pre-match and post-match visuals, helping each fixture feel closer to a major international event rather than a standard match.

Tournament Flow

Once a national team is selected and the groups are finalized, players can begin their road to the title.

The tournament follows a familiar knockout progression, including the group stage, Round of 16, quarter-finals, semi-finals, and final. The structure gives players a complete international campaign where every result matters.
