A New FIFA Game Is Coming in 2026 — and EA Isn’t Behind It

A brand-new FIFA game has officially been announced — and for the first time in nearly 30 years, EA Sports is not involved. The upcoming title is being published by Netflix and developed by Delphi Interactive, a studio also credited as a co-developer on IO Interactive’s upcoming James Bond game, 007 First Light.

The End of the EA Era, the Start of Something New 🔄

It has been more than three years since the last FIFA-branded game launched in September 2022. Later that year, EA Sports and FIFA ended their long-running licensing agreement, leading EA to rebrand the franchise as EA Sports FC.

The shutdown of FIFA 23 servers in October 2025 officially closed the chapter on the classic series. FIFA confirmed back in May 2023 that new officially licensed games were still planned — but until now, no concrete details had emerged.

Netflix and Delphi Interactive Reveal the First Post-EA FIFA Game 🎮

Netflix has now confirmed that a new, untitled FIFA game is in development at Delphi Interactive. Key details include:

  • 📱 Platforms: Android and iOS
  • 📺 Smart TV support: Limited, with smartphones expected to act as controllers
  • 🎮 Controller support: Likely on mobile, consistent with other Netflix Games titles
  • 🆓 Pricing: Free for Netflix subscribers
  • 🗓️ Release window: 2026

With the FIFA World Cup 2026 kicking off on June 11, Netflix may aim to release the game ahead of the tournament to capitalize on global interest. The event will be hosted jointly by the United States, Mexico, and Canada.

Who Is Delphi Interactive? 🏗️

Although Delphi Interactive hasn’t released a standalone game since its founding in 2020, the studio is far from unknown:

  • 🎬 Listed as a co-developer on 007 First Light
  • 🗓️ James Bond title launches March 26, 2026
  • 🧩 Credited as an associate developer across PlayStation, Steam, and IO Interactive platforms

This makes the FIFA project Delphi’s highest-profile standalone release to date.

The First FIFA Game Not Published by EA Sports 🚨

This upcoming release marks a historic shift:

  • ❌ No EA Sports involvement
  • 📦 Published by Netflix
  • 📜 FIFA license reportedly funded directly by Netflix

EA previously revealed it was paying roughly $150 million per year for FIFA naming rights. Reports from 2021 claimed FIFA was seeking $1 billion for a new four-year deal, a massive increase that ultimately led EA to walk away.

What We Know So Far ⚽

  • 🎮 Single-player and multiplayer modes confirmed
  • 🌍 Designed to be more global and accessible
  • 🗣️ FIFA President Gianni Infantino called the project “a great historic step for FIFA”
  • 🎯 Delphi Interactive CEO Casper Daugaard says the goal is to create“the most fun, approachable, and global football game ever created.”

With Netflix stepping into one of gaming’s most iconic franchises, FIFA’s return in 2026 could redefine what a football game looks like outside the EA ecosystem. Whether it can live up to the legacy remains to be seen — but for the first time in decades, FIFA is truly starting fresh. ⚽✨
