Movistar Riders and Atlético Madrid team up to play FIFA together
The Spanish football club Atlético Madrid and the local eSports organization Movistar Riders have teamed up to jointly participate in FIFA tournaments in 2023. The agreement entered into force on January 1, 2023 and will mark a new major project of the football club in eSports.
The aim of Atlético Madrid and Movistar Riders this season will not only be to reaffirm their leadership in the international rankings, but also to remain a benchmark in the national arena, always having as a basis the values common to both clubs - effort, teamwork, humility, respect, self-sacrifice and constancy. Thus, Atlético Madrid and Movistar Riders will unite fans of traditional and digital football under one shirt.
This announcement represents another step in the relationship between the two clubs, who joined forces in the eLaLiga national championship back in 2020.
Note that Movistar Riders is one of the strongest FIFA teams. Last year, members of the squad became the winners of the FIFAe Club World Cup 2022. At the same time, Andonii already defended the colors of Atlético Madrid last season, playing for the club in the eLaLiga 2022 - Cup and eLaLiga 2022 - Grand Final.
As part of the updated agreement, the esports division of the football club will include tuga810, who previously defended the colors of the Lisbon Benfica. As a result, the Portuguese will be entered into the eLaLiga Santander, which is scheduled to start at the end of January.
More recently, a similar agreement was signed between French organization Team Vitality and local football club Lille .
The current Movistar Riders roster in FIFA discipline:
