FunPlus Phoenix ready to sell VALORANT roster
According to Dexerto, the Chinese esports organization FunPlus Phoenix is ready to sell its VALORANT roster. The main reason is that the club is not among the partners of Riot Games for the European League.
The FunPlus Phoenix organization has also reportedly applied for the Asia Partner Program, where organizations such as T1, Gen.G Esports, and ZETA DIVISION have already secured spots according to recent reports.
If the club manages to qualify for the Asian League, it will have to assemble a completely new squad around BerLIN, a player from the ZHUQUE youth team. In any case, the absence of the main force of their region next season can seriously undermine the performance of Europe. In addition, the potential changes will push other clubs to enter the transfer market, where they will have to put in enough effort to snag star players.
Recall that the original composition of FunPlus Phoenix was formed at the end of 2020. Having undergone minor changes at the end of last season, the European team has become the strongest representative of its region. In the last nine months alone, FunPlus Phoenix has won VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: EMEA Stage 1 Challengers and VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: Stage 2 Masters - Copenhagen, and placed second in VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: EMEA Stage 2 Challengers.
At the same time, the team recently took fourth place at the end of VALORANT Champions 2022, losing in the lower bracket to DRX with a score of 0:2.
