G2 Esports accused of poaching players
Representatives of the esports organization MAD Lions announced that G2 Esports are engaged in luring their players into their ranks. The affected club is seeking assistance from Riot Games in resolving this case. This information was shared by journalists from the DotEsports portal, citing their sources.
The publication claims that this issue was raised at a meeting of owners of esports organizations, which took place on September 2-3. MAD Lions accused G2 Esports of luring players away and using not the most honest methods to achieve their goals. In addition, the MAD Lions asked the meeting participants to vote to change the rules that relate to poaching players. 8 esports organizations voted in favor, but G2 Esports and Team Vitality decided to refrain from such a decision and leave everything as it is. Vitality argued their decision by the fact that before changing it, it is necessary to learn how to thoroughly execute the already existing system to combat enticement by the player, as well as to punish violators. Riot Games reported that MAD Lions have not filed any formal complaint against Team Vitality, and therefore no investigation is ongoing in this case.
Among other things, Riot Games recalled that the regulations have clear rules regarding this situation. Cybersport organizations, whose representatives are actively soliciting players, will be punished with 5-10 months of suspension from participation in the League of Legends league. Fines can be received not only by employees of e-sports clubs, but also by the players themselves, who have signed a contract with them. If e-sportsmen or coaches communicate with other organizations regarding their transfer to the club without notifying the management, they may be suspended from e-sports activities for up to 15 months.
This is not the first time G2 Esports have gotten themselves involved in such scandals. In 2016 and 2018, they were already accused of similar activities. Despite the fact that Carlos 'ocelote' Rodriguez was repeatedly accused of dishonest conduct of esports business and poaching players, he did not receive any fines.
G2 Esports recently re-signed League of Legends mid-lane roster Rasmus 'Caps' Winter. The new agreement is expected to be valid until the end of 2023. According to some reports, G2 wants to sign a League of Legends player like Mathias 'Carzzy' Orchaga. Sources claim that the positions of trainer, toplainer and support will also be occupied by other representatives of the esports fauna.
Most likely, the changes in G2 Esports are dictated by the circumstances that the team was unable to qualify for the 2021 World Championship. This happened for the first time in the history of an esports organization. The team could not beat their principled opponent in the person of Fnatic, and the defeat was suffered in the semifinals of the lower bracket of the European summer split. To make matters worse, G2 Esports has former Fnatic player Martin 'Rekkles' Larsson, who was considered the club's main striking force.
Current G2 Esports League of Legends roster
