LoL Patch 26.15 Full Notes: Every Champion Buff, Nerf, and the Bel'Veth Rework-Is there anything shaking up the Bot Lane Mage Meta?

Recently, as the saying goes, League of Legends players are eating well. The news is coming in hot and thick on all fronts, with Esports dominating across the board, a new patch here to shake things up, and the long awaited Classic mode finally arriving in the iconic game. It has been a long time coming, with numerous games introducing legacy modes and old timey content. In short, it is good to be a LoL player in August of 2026 and beyond with all the exciting stuff on the horizon.

League of Legends Patch 26.15 is a relatively light balance patch compared to previous updates, with Riot instead focusing most of its attention on Bel'Veth's extensive redesign and the launch of League Classic. The direct buffs target champions that have struggled to find consistent success across ranked play and professional competition, with improvements aimed at increasing viability without dramatically altering their identities.

The game came out a decade and a half ago, and things are extremely different. Many players are no longer there, but for some, Classic feels overwhelming as well as interesting. If you are not interested in playing yourself but still want to feel the nostalgic early days of the legendary 5v5 MOBA, you can also watch League of Legends live and relive the iconic era.

All Champion Buffs

Alistar receives a straightforward quality of life improvement through an increase to his base movement speed from 330 to 335. While the number looks small on paper, the additional speed makes roaming more efficient, improves his ability to threaten engages with Headbutt and Pulverize, and slightly increases his reliability in peeling for carries during team fights. Riot noted that melee supports have moved into a healthier position after recent adjustments, but Alistar continued to lag behind his competition.

Kai'Sa also receives a modest buff focused entirely on her passive. Second Skin now deals more on hit damage throughout the game, while every Plasma stack contributes additional damage before detonation. These changes primarily reward sustained trades and extended skirmishes rather than creating stronger burst windows, thereby helping both traditional marksman builds and AP variants scale more consistently.

Maokai gains meaningful improements to Bramble Smash, with its AP ratio increased and bonus monster damage raised at every rank. These adjustments improve his jungle clear while giving AP oriented Maokai players more damage without significantly affecting his tank identity in lane. Volibear also receives cooldown reductions on Thundering Smash at early ranks, allowing him to engage more frequently throughout the laning phase.

Zac rounds out the buff list with increased base armor growth and a lower Elastic Slingshot cooldown, improving both jungle durability and initiation frequency as games progress. Collectively, the buffs are conservative as they target champions that had fallen below average without introducing major meta defining power spikes. The changes should increase their pick rates a bit. To see the best of the best do it, rybsonlol is going to be streaming in the coming weeks, so make sure to tune in.

All Champion Nerfs

Patch 26.15's nerfs are similarly restrained. Riot has targeted champions that have remained dominant across multiple skill brackets or recent professional play. Instead of removing entire playstyles, the developers reduce the consistency of their strongest strengths while preserving overall identity and still keeping them very playable.

Locke receives the most substantial collection of direct nerfs. His base health is reduced, lowering early durability, while his Q loses base damage. His W is adjusted so its defensive scaling becomes flatter instead of increasing throughout the game, and its gray health generation is also reduced. Riot's goal is to make Locke fall off more naturally during later stages instead of remaining a very durable, high damage threat regardless of game length.

Mordekaiser is toned down after becoming too oppressive following Patch 26.14. His Death Realm now steals a smaller percentage of enemy stats, reducing his overwhelming dueling potential without fundamentally changing how the ultimate functions. Naafiri also loses damage, particularly through ultimate scaling and packmate effectiveness, which means the burst patterns that have made her consistently threatening are reduced.

Riven receives reductions to the bonus AD scaling on Blade of the Exile and Wind Slash, slightly lowering her late game carry potential while leaving her combo mechanics untouched. Sylas also joins the nerf list with reductions aimed at curbing his ability to dominate extended skirmishes after recent improvements pushed him above Riot's intended power level.

Overall, in a similar manner to the buffs, Riot avoided sweeping nerfs and instead focused on trimming efficiency from champions that had become too reliable in skilled hands. The result is a balance pass intended to narrow the gap between the strongest picks and the rest of the roster without forcing dramatic shifts in champion priority.

Bel'Veth Rework

The defining feature of Patch 26.15 is Bel'Veth's comprehensive rework, which shifts her identity away from oppressive early game invading and toward becoming the late game Void empress Riot always intended her role to be. Instead of excelling through repeated early jungle fights, much of her power has been redistributed into scaling mechanics that reward reaching later stages of the match. This is great news for experienced players and endgame heavy tactics.

Her base stats are lowered in several areas, including health, armor, attack damage and attack speed, making early duels noticeably weaker. Passive adjustments improve scaling while changing how bonus attack speed is gained. Void Surge receives one of the largest updates, with more serious damage, improved minion clearing, and fixed dash speed, but its directional cooldown is now much longer at early ranks before scaling back down with skill investment. This significantly weakens repeated level three invades while preserving mobility later in the game.

Above and Below shifts away from bonus AD scaling toward stronger AP ratios, while its crowd control duration and slow are adjusted to create more consistent utility instead of front loaded burst. Royal Maelstrom gains stronger base damage, improved monster damage, and higher durability at later ranks, although early defensive values are reduced.

The biggest change comes through Endless Banquet. Bel'Veth's empowered True Form can now last indefinitely after accumulating enough Lavender stacks, allowing her to maintain transformed power throughout the late game instead of operating under a strict timer. Additional changes adjust attack range, size, healing, attack speed, and passive interactions so the champion grows steadily stronger as matches progress.

Riot described the redesign as an effort to remove unhealthy early snowball patterns that dominate games too much almost right off the bat. At the same time, they are fully embracing Bel'Veth's fantasy as an unstopable scaling monster capable of taking over prolonged games. Sometimes, the immersion and lore are as valuable as the finely tuned numbers for a game to be where it needs to.

Other Changes, Esports Schedule, and Classic

Outside champion balance, Patch 26.15 introduces several important system updates. Bastionbreaker becomes cheaper while receiving more serious bonus true damage, making the situational anti structure item easier to justify in standard builds. Terminus gains new bonus AD and AP scaling on its Shadow on hit effect, while Yun Tal Wildarrows receives additional attack speed alongside a lower gold cost. On the opposite side, Sundered Sky and the Jack of All Trades rune receive nerfs intended to reduce their influence on fighter itemization and improve overall build diversity.

The patch also marks the beginning of Ranked Season 3. Riot refreshes ranked missions and rewards while updating the Aegis of Valor system so it focuses on amplifying LP gains after victories instead of mitigating LP losses after defeats. High ELO matchmaking also changes, with Master tier players once again allowed to queue as duos, while Grandmaster and Challenger remain solo only.

Perhaps the biggest feature outside balance is League Classic, the long asked for, fan favorite mode that should bring a considerable number of the player base back. The nostalgic mode launches with an older version of Summoner's Rift, a roster of only 60 early champions and numerous legacy items, allowing longtime players to revisit the earlier era of League while preserving modern infrastructure and matchmaking. Also, newer players get a chance to see what they missed originally.

Will the Bot Lane Meta Change?

As for the ever important, omnipresent bot lane meta, Patch 26.15 is unlikely to dramatically disrupt the growing mage meta. None of the prominent mage picks receive direct nerfs, while Kai'Sa's passive buff strengthens a traditional marksman without fundamentally changing lane dynamics. Alistar's movement speed buff may encourage more engage supports capable of punishing immobile mages, but the patch lacks sweeping systemic changes that would immediately push bot lane back toward marksman dominance.

The biggest competitive shifts are therefore expected to come from support pairings and player adaptation rather than from direct balance changes, meaning mage bot lanes should remain perfectly viable heading into the early weeks of Patch 26.15. Teams that relied heavily on some of the affected champions, items, and runes will not take long to adapt, meaning there are no significant changes to the current way Esports and ranked operate.
