Ghost of Yotei Update 2.000 Prepares PS5 for Complete Edition

Sucker Punch Productions released Ghost of Yotei update 2.000 on PS5 on September 21, 2026, a download of roughly 29GB that jumps the game from version 1.604 ten days before the Complete Edition arrives on October 1 (via MP1st).

The patch is not Echoes of Sekigahara arriving early. It installs the data the paid upgrade needs, and it switches on three things base game owners can use right now: the Beauty of Yotei mode, transmog, and the trophy lists for the October content. Players reported the download appearing without warning, large enough that the first guess in community threads was an early DLC drop.

Sucker Punch has published no changelog for 2.000, the same silence that followed the 1.604 patch a month earlier. That one added a charm, the Snake armor set that had been locked to pre-orders, and the black purple onryo dye from the Deluxe Edition. Players found all of it by opening menus.

Beauty of Yotei sits in the main menu and runs as a world showcase. The camera moves through locations in Ezo at a slow cinematic pace with music underneath, built for sitting with the environments and pulling photo mode captures without combat running.

I hand the controller to people who do not play games, and Ghost of Yotei is the PS5 exclusive I reach for every time, because the horse, the wind and the camera carry the first hour on their own. I read Beauty of Yotei as a mode for the person watching from the sofa rather than the one chasing trophies.

Transmog is live as well. Players keep the appearance of the armor or weapon they like and run another item's stats under it, which ends the trade between a favourite set and a useful one. Trophies for Echoes of Sekigahara and Most Wanted already show up in the PS5 list, so the shape of both additions is visible before either is playable. A high-contrast accessibility option and further quality-of-life changes land with the October update.

Sucker Punch announced Ghost of Yotei Complete Edition in August. Echoes of Sekigahara splits between the present day and Atsu's years on the mainland, the Battle of Sekigahara included, and introduces Nagato, a figure from her past who has arrived in Ezo. The new ground is a valley once held by The Snake and his Vipers, with new enemies, heavy weapons, armor sets and dyes attached to it.

Most Wanted is the other half, a single-player combat survival mode built as a roguelike. Bounties open a run, kills feed perks, and progress unlocks characters: Atsu with dual katana, Oyuki with the kusarigama, Nagato with a yari. Sony confirmed at State of Play Japan on September 4 that Jin Sakai from Ghost of Tsushima joins that roster. The studio says more of the mode will be shown before release.

The Complete Edition also folds in everything from the Digital Deluxe Edition plus the Charm of Hokkyokusei. Anyone who buys before September 30 unlocks the Sakai Armor on October 1, modelled on Jin's family armor. New Watanabe Mode tracks, photo mode stamps, New Game+ cosmetics and trophies for both additions round out the package. Owners who skip the upgrade still keep Beauty of Yotei, the new Watanabe Mode tracks and transmog, so the free side of the October update is not empty.

The October push follows a thin year for the game. Sucker Punch finished Ghost of Yotei: Legends support in May, two months after the co-op mode launched, and Erika Ishii has said she would play Atsu again given the chance. The studio prototyped climbing inspired by Zelda game Breath of the Wild and dropped it, because Ezo held too many walls players were not meant to scale. Yotei passed Ghost of Tsushima in sales across the same stretch after launch.

I expect the Complete Edition to widen that audience rather than reward the trophy crowd, since a relaxation mode and a transmog toggle read as an invitation to people who bounce off menus. The paid content goes live on October 1, and Sucker Punch has yet to confirm whether a changelog for 2.000 follows.
