Sucker Punch Ends Ghost of Yotei: Legends Support Two Months After Its Release

Just like the original title, Ghost of Tsushima, the game’s sequel, Ghost of Yotei, released last year exclusively on PlayStation 5, received its free multiplayer add-on titled Legends. It was announced at Gamescom Opening Night Live 2025 and released this March.

Ghost of Yotei: Legends features two-player story missions with 4-player survival matches, where they fight against some big enemies from Yotei Six and other creatures, inspired by Japanese mythology. Unexpectedly for many, the developing studio, Sucker Punch Productions, announced that Ghost of Yotei: Legends will not receive any new updates in the future.

This reveal comes from a new PlayStation Blog, where the studio revealed information about the final update for Ghost of Yotei: Legends – The Raid. At the end of the blog, you can see the farewell message from developers about the conclusion of Legends’ support, as you can check out below:

“The Raid update was our last major planned update for Legends. It finishes the story of the Yōtei Six in that mode. We’ve loved to see players playing it, continue to play it and enjoy it. It’s been great.”

This statement surprised many fans of the franchise, as the first title, Ghost of Tsushima—which also featured the Legends multiplayer mode—was supported for about a year and a half, from October 2020 to early 2022. The reason behind the studio's decision remains unknown at this time.

Regarding Ghost of Yotei, there was information that a PC version was in development, much like its predecessor. However, since Sony has shifted its strategy and will no longer be porting its games to PC, it is highly likely that development was canceled. Sucker Punch has yet to announce a new installment in the franchise, but Erika Ishii, the actress who played Atsu, stated that she would love to reprise the role.
