The USA Army Will Get a 4-Day Vacation to Play GTA 6 Since Its Launch

There are three months left until the launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, the most anticipated game of 2026, and it's no secret that it's not just regular gamers eagerly waiting for release day, but people from all walks of life, including, perhaps unsurprisingly, the military. It turns out one Army unit is even getting special leave timed to the game's release on November 19.

According to Instagram user usawtfm, a document shows soldiers from the US Army's 9th Brigade Engineer Battalion will get special leave from November 20 to 23 to coincide with GTA 6's launch. You can check out part of the document below:

“Any Soldier who signs a re-enlistment contract between 1 August 2026 and 14 November 2026 will be authorized for a special 4-day pass. This special pass is specifically designated to coincide with the highly anticipated release of the video game Grand Theft Auto VI (GTA 6). The exact dates of the 4-day pass will be coordinated between the Soldier and their chain of command, aligning with the official release date of the game November 20-23 2026.”

This isn't the first time staff have gotten time off tied to GTA 6's release. American tuning and auto service company Burger Motorsports and Lebanese restaurant Fries Lab have both previously announced November 19 as a day off for employees. Canadian truck manufacturer Edison Motors has also confirmed staff will get two days to try the game, November 19 and 20. Still, the US Army case stands out as pretty unique and unusual.

As we know, next week, Rockstar Games reveals new GTA 6 footage - Grand Theft Auto VI: An Extended Look premieres August 27 on Netflix. Rumors have also suggested it could consist of three episodes, more like a Netflix miniseries, with a combined runtime of around an hour total.
