Genshin Impact Version 6.2 Livestream Unveils New Characters and the Hexerei Rite

HoYoverse has officially revealed the full lineup of content coming in Genshin Impact Version 6.2, and while this update won’t introduce a new map region, it delivers some of the most impactful gameplay changes since Natlan’s debut. The livestream confirmed the arrival of new playable characters Alice, Nicole, and Durin, as well as the introduction of the Hexerei Rite, a new upgrade system aimed at refreshing some of Mondstadt’s oldest heroes.

Hexerei Rite: Major Character Enhancements Arrive 🧙‍♂️

At the heart of Version 6.2 is the Hexerei Rite, a new progression feature that players can unlock through a dedicated quest line. This system will allow users to enhance Mondstadt characters with new upgrades, bringing classic units closer to modern gameplay standards.

The enhancements come in two forms:

  • Independent upgrades, which apply individually to characters like Venti and Klee, enhancing their kits immediately.
  • Linked upgrades, which only activate when two Hexerei characters are deployed together, pushing new party synergies and strategies.

Version 6.2 will also officially introduce Durin as a playable character. Like his brother Albedo, Durin is counted as part of the Hexerei system and will receive narrative and mechanical updates to match.

Livestream Highlights, Banners, and Rewards 🎁

The 6.2 Special Program, streamed on YouTube and Twitch, came with three redemption codes:

  • 1203Kuunrukous
  • Dragon1203Durin
  • GOGOCraftspeople

Players will be able to unlock an alternate Durin skin by completing his Story Quest. Durin will appear in the first half of Version 6.2 Event Banners, alongside Venti and Jahoda, while the second half will feature Varesa and Xilonen. However, HoYoverse confirmed that there will be no Mondstadt Chronicled Banner during Version 6.2.

Venti Gets a New Signature Weapon 🎻

Fans of the Anemo Archon are in luck: Venti will debut a new Signature Weapon in 6.2 titled “The Daybreak Chronicles.” Unlike his previous bows, this weapon is clearly optimized for a hypercarry Venti playstyle and will appear on the Weapon Banner during the first half of the update.

Players will also receive access to a Hexerei Selector, allowing them to claim a copy of Fischl, Razor, or Sucrose after completing the Witch’s Coursework, a quest chain tied to the Hexerei Rite.

More Mondstadt Revamps Coming? 🏰

The arrival of the Hexerei Rite strongly suggests that HoYoverse may be preparing similar modernization passes for other older characters, possibly beyond Mondstadt and even into Liyue. While not yet confirmed, many players see this as a major signal regarding the future of character balance and long-term game progression.

Events, Teasers, and Future Maps 🌍

Version 6.2’s Flagship Event will take place in Natlan, offering players a free 4-Star Bow for participating in its minigames. Meanwhile, Liben returns in his annual event, where he will hint at Dornman Port as a future expansion zone.

Although HoYoverse hasn’t officially confirmed its release, community rumors strongly point to Dornman Port becoming the new area in Version 6.4.
