American McGee Shared First Details of Alice: Madness Returns Sequel

This January, the creator of Alice: Madness Returns, American McGee, announced he’s working on a new video game within the universe of Alice. The legendary game designer left the gaming industry back in 2022, but thanks to his brand of plush toys—Plushie Dreadfuls—he is coming back with a new, promising project.

In the newest post on X social media, American McGee shared some details of his new game with a reference to a GamesRadar report. This time, we will see not Alice, but James, the main character of his newest title. James is an orphan who has been entangled with the Plushie Dreadfuls toy family. Plushie Dreadfuls is described as a spiritual successor and unofficial sequel to Alice: Madness Returns, as it directly ties in with the ending of the 2011 title. What’s also important to say is McGee decided to start this IP to avoid Electronic Arts’ rights on the game series.

Further details of the upcoming American McGee project remain unknown, as it is still believed to be at an early stage of development. Game designer has also revealed a first full draft of the narrative outline for the Plushie Dreadfuls universe/story that you can check out here. He also promised to reveal the first illustrations for his document soon and stated the negotiations with a potential game developer are underway.
