⚙️ Team Cherry Addresses Fan Concerns and Adds Community Translation

Despite the acclaim, Silksong has stirred debate among fans over its steep difficulty curve, with many citing issues like Hornet’s large hitbox and high damage intake from bosses. While Team Cherry insists the challenge is intentional — reflecting Hornet’s agility and combat prowess — the studio continues to fine-tune gameplay balance and technical stability.

After several weeks in public beta, Patch 4 has now rolled out to all PC players, with console versions following shortly. One of the most notable changes involves the Simplified Chinese translation, which had been repeatedly reworked during beta but never fully met expectations. To resolve this, Team Cherry partnered with fan group Team Cart Fix, officially integrating their community-made translation mod into the game — a rare but highly praised move that demonstrates the studio’s openness to collaboration.

🎮 Major Improvements and Technical Enhancements

Beyond localization, Silksong’s latest update focuses heavily on controller support and visual customization. The game now uses Unity’s Input System, expanding compatibility with a wider range of controllers — including PS5 DualSense, Xbox 360, and others — while also enabling rumble feedback for the first time. Team Cherry cautioned that minor issues might persist but confirmed that overall controller performance is now significantly improved.

In terms of visuals, players can now experiment with new settings such as:

  • Film Grain Effect (off by default)
  • Additional Dithering Levels (defaults to low)

These features allow for more personalization in the game’s already stunning hand-drawn aesthetic.

🧵 Difficulty and Game Design Philosophy

Team Cherry has confirmed that Silksong is intentionally more difficult than the original Hollow Knight. Hornet’s faster movement and advanced combat mechanics demanded smarter, more aggressive enemies to create a balanced experience. The developers also encouraged players to explore alternate paths, gather resources, and upgrade strategically to overcome the tougher encounters.
