Fortnite Adjusts OG and Festival Season End Dates, Giving Players Less Time
Epic Games has unexpectedly altered the schedule for Fortnite’s current seasons, announcing that both the OG and Festival modes will end earlier than initially planned. The change comes shortly after the v37.30 update, which itself was delayed by a day, sparking speculation that the adjustments may be related to ongoing development shifts.
The most affected is Fortnite Festival Season 10, which features Gorillaz as its headline act. Launched on August 26, it was already set to be the shortest Festival season, originally scheduled to wrap up on October 14. Epic has now moved that date forward to October 10, cutting players’ time to complete the Music Pass even further.
Meanwhile, Fortnite OG Season 5 will also conclude earlier than expected. Initially slated to end on October 3, the season will now close on October 2. While this adjustment is relatively minor compared to Festival mode’s shortened run, it still reduces the window for players to unlock all available rewards.
The changes mean that players in both modes now have less time to level up and claim seasonal content. For those struggling to finish their passes, XP maps remain a reliable way to gain levels quickly before the deadlines.
Looking ahead, the next Fortnite OG season is set to revisit Chapter 1 Season 6, continuing the nostalgia-driven format that has defined the mode. Epic has not yet revealed which artist will headline the next Festival season, leaving fans waiting for further details. With the next major update scheduled for September 16, more clarity is expected soon.
While sudden scheduling adjustments are nothing new for Fortnite, the decision to shorten both ongoing seasons highlights the unpredictable nature of the game’s live service model. For players, it serves as a reminder to stay on top of seasonal progression, as even minor date shifts can impact the race to unlock limited-time rewards.
