Fortnite Ballistic New Map - v34.20 Patch Details
The latest update for Fortnite Ballistic is here! With the v34.20 patch dropping tomorrow, March 25, players can expect some exciting new content, including a sneak peek at the game’s first new map since launch – Hammer Fall!
Finally, it’s happened! Based on my experience as a player in another ultra-popular 5v5 FPS shooter, I can say that a New Map = New Game. It's cool that Epic feels the same way and isn’t just pumping out maps one after another but is actually focusing on balance and the variety of the landscape.
Fortnite Ballistic is a classic 5v5 bomb-planting scenario game, and the new map is a must-have for it, like a New Season for OG Fortnite. This update also brings several balance changes, weapon tweaks, and a variety of fixes that should improve the overall gameplay experience.
Introducing Hammer Fall Map

Hammer Fall is an exciting addition to Ballistic, featuring a unique, medieval-themed environment. Rising from the waters below, this map offers a combination of verticality and tight lanes, perfect for players looking to engage in intense combat. The map's layout emphasizes strategic positioning, with plenty of cover and angles to hold or take control of.
At launch, Hammer Fall will be a “shell map,” which means it’ll lack the final environmental details for now. This will allow the developers to make adjustments to the map layout based on feedback before adding the finishing touches. The full, polished version will arrive with v34.30 on April 8. Get ready for some epic battles in this new location!
Weapon Balance Changes & Economy Tweaks

The v34.20 update also brings some important changes to Ballistic's weapon balance. Here’s a quick rundown of the adjustments:
Hammer Pump Shotgun
- Fire rate slightly increased
- Point-blank damage significantly increased
Frenzy Auto Shotgun
- Point-blank damage increased
- Mid-range damage increased
Thunder Burst SMG
- Damage slightly increased
- Fire rate slightly increased
Striker AR
- Reduced the range at which damage falloff begins
On top of these weapon tweaks, the in-match economy has also seen some adjustments:
- Reaper Sniper Rifle: Cost reduced from 4700 to 4500 Credits
- Striker AR: Cost increased from 2500 to 2700 Credits
- Nemesis AR: Cost increased from 2500 to 2700 Credits
- Drum Gun: Cost reduced from 3500 to 3200 Credits
These changes should help fine-tune the economy and the overall weapon balance, so keep an eye out for how they impact gameplay.
Player Feedback & Upcoming Improvements
The Fortnite Ballistic team has been closely listening to player feedback. Based on recent surveys, players have been asking for new maps, weapons, and gadgets, as well as better ways to handle AFK players. The team is working hard to address these concerns, with new features and improvements already in the works.
One of the major features coming soon is a surrender option, which is expected to be added by early summer. Additionally, the team is exploring ways to give players more HUD customization options and improve inventory management.
The team is also focused on improving the first-person shooter experience, which is a priority for future updates. Keep an eye out for these improvements in future patches.
Bug Fixes & Gameplay Tweaks
As with every patch, there are several fixes and tweaks to improve gameplay. Notable changes include:
- Bubble Shield: Now collapses if it takes more than 600 damage before the time limit expires.
- Recon Grenade: Can now be destroyed, and enemy grenades will pulse red.
- Smoke Grenade: Deploys smoke more quickly.
- Mantling Issues: Fixed several issues where players were unable to mantle properly or were stuck at certain ledges.
Visual issues like camera clipping and weapon scope problems have also been addressed, improving the overall visual experience.
The Fortnite Ballistic team is committed to continuing to listen to player feedback and will keep making adjustments to improve the game. Expect more updates on weapon balancing, new features, and improvements as we move forward.
In the meantime, prepare for the Hammer Fall map to drop on April 8 with the v34.30 update! It's an exciting time for Ballistic, and we can't wait to see you in-game!
