Final Fantasy X Tops Survey of RPGs That Made Players Cry

The Japanese outlet Dengeki Faminico Gamer recently surveyed 4,700 players to discover which role-playing games most often moved them to tears. Out of 40 titles that made the list, Final Fantasy X claimed the number one spot.

According to respondents, the game’s story is nearly impossible to experience without feeling emotional. Its full voice acting and polished animation made it easier for players to deeply connect with the characters and their struggles.

In second place was Crisis Core: Final Fantasy VII, the beloved prequel renowned for its heartbreaking finale. Persona 3 rounded out the top three, praised as one of the most profound RPGs in its exploration of life, death, and the human condition.

Other notable entries in the ranking included NieR: Automata (12th), Undertale (13th), Xenoblade Chronicles 2 (15th), Persona 4 (23rd), Yakuza: Like a Dragon (27th), and Lost Odyssey (36th), among many other iconic titles.
