Elden Ring Nightreign Patch 1.02.1 Boosts Storm Ruler and Fixes Major Bugs
Elden Ring: Nightreign has received Patch 1.02.1, delivering balance changes, a notable boost to the Storm Ruler skill, and a wide range of bug fixes. FromSoftware’s latest update also addresses performance drops in specific boss fights, resolves relic and passive effect issues, and fixes multiple problems with audio, spells, and network stability.
The standout change in this patch is the Storm Ruler buff. Charging the storm effect now takes less time, the speed of the blade unleashed is higher, and the attack power when used without charging has been increased. These tweaks aim to make the skill more responsive and effective in both charged and uncharged situations.
Alongside balance adjustments, this update targets some frustrating bugs. One involved dropped items, preventing all actions except movement and camera control. Another caused performance dips during encounters with Everdark Sovereigns “Caligo, Miasma of Night, and “Maris, Fathom of Night” under certain conditions. The patch also corrects a guard effect issue where certain defensive moves wouldn’t trigger special effects after a successful block.
FromSoftware has also fixed a network-related issue where repeated casting of Sorceries or Incantations, or activating certain passive effects, could degrade performance for other players. Some passive abilities and relics have also been corrected to work as intended, including “Frostbite Produces a Mist of Frost,” which was dealing more damage than designed.
The update improves the Relic Rites menu functionality as well. Certain relics that previously couldn’t be equipped when using specific filter settings can now be used, and sorting inconsistencies for relics have been addressed. Audio reliability has been improved for situations where sounds might fail to play correctly.

The previous Elden Ring: Nightreign update, Patch 1.02, introduced the long-requested Duo Expeditions mode, allowing two-player co-op for the first time. It overhauled the UI with clearer player count settings, expanded Relic filtering and preset slots, and streamlined inventory management. Vendors received tabbed menus and detailed item descriptions, while certain boss fights, like Night Aspect, gained skippable cutscenes. The patch also kicked off the second Everdark Sovereign cycle and delivered extensive bug fixes, performance improvements, and stability upgrades across all platforms.
