Electronic Arts has officially confirmed that EA SPORTS FC Tactical will be shut down, with the game going offline permanently on May 7, 2026. The decision was communicated directly to the community, marking the end of the turn-based football strategy title less than a year after its broader regional rollout.

EA SPORTS FC Tactical originally launched under the name Tactical Football, entering early access before later being rebranded and integrated into EA’s EA SPORTS FC ecosystem. The finalized version debuted in May 2024 across select Asian markets, including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Thailand, and Indonesia, and was available on both Android and iOS platforms.

A regional launch that limited the game’s potential

Designed as a slower, strategy-driven alternative to EA SPORTS FC Mobile, FC Tactical aimed to blend traditional football with turn-based tactical gameplay. While the concept showed promise, the game struggled to gain momentum beyond its initial regions. Remaining locked in a prolonged regional launch phase significantly reduced its exposure and prevented it from reaching a broader global audience.

Limited availability inevitably restricted player growth, cutting off access for many potential fans who may have embraced the concept. Without expansion or meaningful progress for over a year, expectations for a turnaround gradually faded, making the shutdown outcome difficult to avoid.

As part of the sunset process, in-app purchases have been disabled, and the game has already been removed from digital storefronts. Players who still have FC Tactical installed can continue playing until the official shutdown date, after which the servers will be taken offline permanently.

In its farewell message, Electronic Arts thanked players for their support and encouraged fans to continue their football experience through EA SPORTS FC Mobile and the upcoming EA SPORTS FC 26, which will remain the company’s primary focus moving forward.
