Ten Apex Legends Global Series: 2022 Championship Participants Dropped Due to Coronavirus
According to the Dot Esports portal, ten participants in the Apex Legends Global Series: 2022 Championship have dropped out of the championship due to the coronavirus. At least eight players have already tested positive for the coronavirus, leaving their teams scrambling to find replacements if they don't already have a manager to replace them as a substitute.
Several teams have already negotiated substitutions and visa issues, with some opting to bring in players from their regions as substitutes, while others had to rush to pick players from North America who did not qualify for the Apex Legends Global Series: 2022 Championship.
A somewhat similar situation occurred in Stockholm before the Split Two Playoffs, where several teams were forced to use emergency substitutions. It is noteworthy that Reignite (now DarkZero Esports) performed with a replacement, as well as the Cloud9 team. Other teams, like Team Singularity, were a little less fortunate and were forced to enter the tournament with only two players.
