NiKo Unlocks HLTV's Top 5 Players of 2022
The authoritative HLTV portal presented the name of the e-sportsman who was honored to open the top five in the list of the best players of 2022. Given the statistics and overall performance, it was NiKo, the current leader of the G2 Esports roster.
The Bosnian had not the most outstanding season in terms of individual awards, not receiving an MVP award. However, NiKo has been recognized as the EVP of the following championships: Intel Extreme Masters XVI - Katowice, Intel Extreme Masters XVII - Dallas, BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022, ESL Pro League Season 16 and BLAST Premier: World Final 2022.
This is NiKo's seventh best player ranking, having been ranked 11th in 2016, 2nd in 2017, 3rd in 2018, 11th in 2019, and also ranked 4th and 3rd in 2020 and 2021, respectively.
NiKo and G2 Esports had a frankly weak season, which they managed to save only thanks to the victory at BLAST Premier: World Final 2022. However, the Bosnian also helped the team get into the top three at Intel Extreme Masters XVI - Katowice, BLAST Premier: Spring Finals 2022 and ESL Pro League Season 16.
As the editors note, NiKo failed to be higher for several reasons: 1) relatively low rating in big matches; 2) no MVP awards.
