Modern Warfare 4's Kill Block Map Rebuilds Itself Between Matches With 500 Layout Combinations

Infinity Ward revealed Kill Block on July 15, a Modern Warfare 4 multiplayer map that rebuilds itself between matches from three modular sections, with 500 possible combinations at launch. The map is about the size of Shoot House and splits into two outer End Slabs plus one Central Slab. Those recombine between matches and between Gunfight rounds, so you'll rarely load into the same layout twice. Weather shifts too: clear one match, snow the next.

Playable sections come from Station, Shoot House, Killhouse, Ambush, Crash, Highrise, and Blacksite, plus four original pieces named Woods, Snow Block, Cabin, and ME-Town. At launch Kill Block runs Gunfight 3v3 and 10v10 only. More modes come in post-launch seasons, and Fanatics Fest attendees played it July 16 through 19.

The studio already promised no cartoonish skins at launch or in later seasons, and a map stitched from Crash and Highrise fragments is aimed at the same returning veterans. The game itself arrives October 23 on PC, Xbox Series X/S, PS5, and Switch 2, with a week of early campaign access for pre-orders.

How the map gets built is a fair question to ask, though. Infinity Ward has confirmed generative AI tools in the game's asset pipeline, and 500 permutations assembled from modular blocks is the kind of content problem studios point procedural tools at. Whether Kill Block uses them, nobody at the studio has said.

I think the 500 number flatters what players will feel in practice. The skeleton of each slab stays fixed, so regulars will know every piece within a week even while the arrangement keeps moving. I'd still call this the most interesting design swing in the game so far, though, because Gunfight's short rounds are the one place where a reshuffled layout breaks memorized setups and makes both teams read the map on the fly.
