Captain Price Actor Thinks He Should Play Character in Call of Duty Movie

As is well known, a film based on the Call of Duty franchise is currently in development. The director is Peter Berg, known for action movies like Hancock and Battleship, and he has confirmed the story will take place within the Modern Warfare universe. This undoubtedly opens up a wealth of possibilities, including bringing iconic video game characters to the big screen.

Perhaps the central figure of the Modern Warfare subfranchise is Captain Price, both in the original trilogy and the four games that belong to a soft reboot. This is why the chances of his appearance in the upcoming film are very high. Meanwhile, Barry Sloane, who plays the character, shares this view too. Recently, he appeared on the Dan Allen Gaming podcast, where he stated that he considers himself the best candidate to play Captain Price in the upcoming adaptation. You can check out his comments on the matter below:

“I don't think there's anyone else on the planet who is as qualified for the job as I am. Who has lived the character for almost a decade? Who understands the size of the projects, the love of that fan base, and has been on the journey with them from the get-go? Hollywood is a beast. Sometimes things are decided for certain reasons that can never be understood. But if you're asking me, would I like to do it? Absolutely, I would love to play him in a movie. 100%. That would be fantastic. But let's let the Hollywood cards fall where they land.”

Although the Call of Duty movie will take place in the Modern Warfare universe, it’s not certain that Peter Berg will adapt the events of a specific game. This might make the film less appealing to some fans, but we still have to wait for official updates. Meanwhile, Inde Navarrette, the star of the horror film Obsession, recently revealed that she is a fan of the franchise and would be excited to appear in the upcoming adaptation.

As for the Call of Duty games, last month Infinity Ward released Modern Warfare 4, the final installment in the franchise. The game received quite high praise from both critics and players, currently holding a Metacritic score of 85, with the story campaign being especially acclaimed. Additionally, the DMZ mode is now available for free on PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5 and will remain free until November 11th.

Call of Duty movie will premiere on June 30, 2028.
