Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 DMZ Is Free to Play Until November 11

Activision has launched a free trial for the DMZ mode in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4. You can play the extraction mode without buying the game until November 11 on PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S.

The free trial started on November 6 at 12 PM PT and runs until November 11 at 10 AM PT. It’s timed to the launch of Modern Warfare 4’s Season 1, which came out the same day and added a new X01 location to DMZ.

During the free trial, players get full access to DMZ on the Hajin map. You can play solo or in a squad. All of the mode’s core mechanics are available, including DMZ Orders, Threat Briefings, and Resupply Runs. The trial also includes X01, a new weapons facility added with Season 1. The Modern Warfare 4 campaign and multiplayer are not part of the trial.

DMZ is an extraction mode where players drop onto a large map, complete missions, gather gear, and try to make it out alive. The longer a run lasts, the fewer extraction points stay open. So players have to decide whether to risk it for better loot or extract early.

In extraction modes, every second can decide whether you get out with all your loot or lose everything. So if high ping keeps you from playing DMZ comfortably, try IceVPN. The service has more than 80 servers around the world and works for all competitive games. As we showed in our guide How To Fix High Ping in CS2, it can cut your ping by a factor of three.

All progress earned during the free trial is tied to your Activision account. If you decide to buy Modern Warfare 4 after the trial ends, your progress will carry over as long as you sign in with the same account.

To play on consoles, you’ll need a PlayStation Plus or Game Pass subscription. You’ll also need an Activision account, which may require linking a phone number. Once the trial ends, DMZ will again be available only to Modern Warfare 4 owners, while Warzone remains the free mode. With the start of Season 1, Warzone received its Modern Warfare 4 integration, new Hajin and Zodiac maps, and the return of Verdansk and Rebirth Island.
