The Guard — Ludwig x Tarik Invitational winner
The Ludwig x Tarik Invitational has come to an end. As part of the championship, which was held from January 14 to 15 in Los Angeles, four teams from North America and South Korea competed for a total prize pool of $50,000. The winner of the tournament was the team The Guard, which in the grand final was stronger than TSM with a score of 2:1 (Pearl - 12:14; Ascent - 13:11; Haven - 13:1).
In the course of the competition, JoshRT's wards successfully dealt with T1 (2:1) and Sentinels (16:14) before making it to the grand final.
Despite losing on the Pearl map at the start of the grand final, The Guard managed to finish the series with TSM in their favor to become the champion of the Ludwig x Tarik Invitational and earn a prize of $30,000.
It is noteworthy that the Ludwig x Tarik Invitational was the first attempt at a pen for the updated composition of The Guard. Now the team will begin preparations for the start of VALORANT Challengers 2023: North America Split 1.
This championship turned out to be quite demonstrative in that the two partner teams, T1 and the Sentinels, took the last places and lost to the teams from the North American Challengers. Thus, already next season we can count on a noticeable increase in competition in America, where the strongest team from the Challengers will arrive in 2023.
Since the Ludwig x Tarik Invitational has come to an end, one half of the teams will get a month off while the other half will get another two weeks to prepare for the next competition.
