The OG organization is leaving VALORANT
The European esports organization OG has announced its retirement from the VALORANT discipline. The club explained its decision by not getting into the affiliate program. Now that all the old players have found new teams, OG has decided to say goodbye to discipline.
It's been a long time since we talked about VALORANT and we know you've had a lot of questions about our future on the stage, as well as releasing our players and finding new homes. Today we would like to answer these questions and provide a definitive answer for OG going forward.
We applied for the affiliate program and successfully passed the interview with Riot Games. Unfortunately, in the end we were not included in the list of selected teams. Our next steps were an internal discussion of what the best step forward would be.
Seeing our progress and potential, especially at the end of the season, we believed that any team would be lucky to have these players in their squad. We would never deprive them of that opportunity, and so we let them explore their options and get offers from other teams.
Once the team found their new home, we regrouped and carefully assessed our options, ultimately deciding to take a step away from the scene. We would like to thank each and every one of you who have supported us since day one, tuned in to our games, sent us love through social media, and supported our teams over the past years. We sincerely appreciate all your patience and love despite the ups and downs and we look forward to continuing to see your support for us in the future.
The OG organization has been on stage since January 2021. At the same time, in 2022, the club opened its second roster by signing an agreement with OG LDN UTD. During the existence of the organization in VALORANT, the team reached the semi-finals of the VALORANT Regional Leagues 2022 France: Revolution Stage 1, and also took fourth place in the VALORANT Champions Tour 2022: EMEA Last Chance Qualifier.
