100 Thieves: Dominate Red Bull Home Ground 2022 VALORANT Tournament
100 Thieves are one of the top eSports teams around at the moment, as they continue to dominate many of the tournaments that they feature in.
In the final VALORANT event of the year, the team managed to prove to everyone watching just how dominant they can be, as they managed to go undefeated in the Red Bull Home Ground 2022 tournament in what has since been described as an impressive feat.
VALORANT is not the most popular game played by 100 Thieves
While it is clear that it is impossible to deny that the eSports team is not extremely talented when it comes to playing VALORANT, it is important to recognize that it is not a game title that they played all too often throughout 2022 competitively.
The fact that they were able to dominate throughout the Red Bull Home Ground 2022 is all the more impressive when you consider that VALORANT only consisted of approximately 13% of the matches (25) the team was involved in over the last year, according to data provided by eSports Charts.
Of course, 100 Thieves have a number of dedicated teams competing in the various competitions that they take part in, although the League of Legends game is where they are often seen participating and competing. The same data shows that 60% of their 191 matches for this year (114 matches in total) were played across this game, while 52 matches (27%) were played when competing in Call of Duty.
Furthermore, the team was able to increase its revenues because of the incredible performances that they had throughout the year. The team allegedly has a net worth of $4,929,585 when prize money from esports tournaments is taken into account, with most of that money having come from winning the various League of Legends tournaments.
Can 100 Thieves help make eSports more popular for viewers?
There is no denying that the level of competition that 100 Thieves have shown throughout this year has been nothing short of incredible. With their consistent performances and dominance in various game titles, it makes sense why they are now one of the most popular teams around.
But, with more viewers becoming exposed to the team’s abilities, can they also help bring in more viewers for the various tournaments they participate in? From what we have seen so far, it certainly looks like a possibility, especially with the team’s recent success at the Red Bull Home Ground 2022 event.
With sports betting on the rise following legislation in places like Ohio, where esports betting is set to become possible for the first time, the team’s success may have positively impacted fans who live in the state!
Residents in the state may already be aware of eSports and may already have an interest in the activity, however, there could be more attention and focus on it, as teams such as 100 Thieves will have become popular betting opportunities for Ohioans.
With sportsbooks such as BetMGM in Ohio soon to be available that are offering punters bonus codes already ahead of its imminent arrival in the state, those that have been following the dominance that 100 Thieves have been showing may be looking to place wagers on the team in upcoming competitions.
Of course, there are many other teams across a variety of different games that can be wagered on once it does go live, as players will be provided with a variety of options, however there is no denying that many will be keeping an eye on 100 Thieves.
100 Thieves Schedule
At this stage of 2022, it has yet to be known which tournaments 100 Thieves will participate in throughout the year. However, given their success so far this year and the talent level on the team’s roster, it will be fascinating to see which tournaments they eventually find themselves competing in. Regardless, one thing is for certain: 100 Thieves are sure to impress whenever they compete.
However, judging by the data found on the eSports Charts website, it is right to assume that the team will be competing in more matches and tournaments next year if current trends are to be followed.
As of writing, the team competed in 195 matches across a total of 74 tournaments in 2022, an increase that has been experienced year-on-year at the moment. In 2021, they competed in 186 total matches but had only participated in a total of 42 tournaments throughout the year. In 2020, these figures were even lower, as they had 133 matches and played in 20 tournaments.
Expect More Tournaments & Matches To Be Played in 2023
Given the current trajectory that has been experienced, it is easy to assume that they will be competing in more matches and tournaments in the future. They may be looking to diversify their gaming efforts a little more in order to achieve this.
As mentioned before, 100 Thieves appear to have a main focus on the League of Legends game, as this appears to be their bread and butter when it comes to competing in tournaments and achieving success. However, the fact that they were able to dominate the recent Red Bull Home Ground 2022 competition, it would not be a surprise if we were to see the team look to compete in more VALORANT events, or potentially even increase their participation within Call of Duty competitions.
Whether they will look to compete in other eSports remains debatable at the moment, although it is worth noting that they have had teams feature in tournaments that involve the games Apex Legends and Clash Royale. With the success that they have been enjoying in 2022, we may see more involvement from 100 Thieves throughout the entire eSports scene in 2023 and beyond as they look to dominate even further!
