NAVI COO commented on the new VALORANT roster
Alexey Kucherov, COO of the NAVI organization, commented on the new VALORANT roster. In an interview for Dexerto, the functionary spoke about the team's plans, and also revealed the details of the negotiations.
We strive for the best results in every tournament, so it's important for us to maintain consistency. Our previous team did not show any results at the TIER-1 level in 2022, although we had very close matches almost every time. At the same time, the former FunPlus Phoenix lineup proved to be the best in the EMEA region in 2022, and it was really tempting for us to acquire them. We have also known the IGL of the ANGE1 team for about 20 years and we are sure that his skills as a captain will help us achieve high results. A good IGL is absolutely essential to success.
During the conversation, Kucherov noted that negotiations on signing the backbone of FunPlus Phoenix began immediately after Riot Games presented the list of partners.
Talks with FunPlus Phoenix started right after Riot Games released the slots distribution. We appreciate FunPlus Phoenix's quick decision making as the deadline was very tight. At the very beginning, we had several scenarios for building our future team. The main thing was to get all the players and their coach together, but we also had plans B and C with one or two substitutions if needed. We are happy with how it turned out with only one replacement. cNed is a great player and a great fit for the team.
Xaoc also said that the team has set itself serious goals, namely to achieve high results next season.
Right now, our goal is to deliver the best performances next year, win tournaments, create content for the fans and prove that we deserve their attention.
I don't want to make any predictions as it increases the pressure on the guys, but I'm sure their skills and abilities can secure them a place in the top 3 even at the biggest tournaments. However, there are some very strong competitors from around the world, so we'll see how it goes.
