ESL announces PUBG Masters Americas 2022 Phase 1

One of the largest tournament operators shared details regarding the holding of the PUBG tournament in America. The event will be held under the name ESL PUBG Masters Americas 2022 Phase 1.

The championship will be held in several stages: open qualifiers, regional playoffs and grand finals.

The open qualifier will be held in two sub-regions, namely North America and South America. Up to 160 teams will be able to take part in the selections. Each round will take place over two days, each of which will have 6 matches. The number of rounds will depend on how many participants register for the tournament. If there are not very many teams, then 3 rounds will take place, starting from Round of 64. If a large number of teams want to take part in the competition, then the organizers will hold 4 rounds, which will start from the Round of 128 stage. Regardless of the number of participants in the Round of 32 and Round of 16 will be held over two days with 6 matches each.

Dates of all stages of open qualification

• Round 1 - February 9-10: Round of 128 (if necessary) - February 9. Round of 64 - February 10
• Round 2 - February 12-13
• Round 3 - February 15-16

Based on the results of the Round of 16, the top 8 teams from North and South America will be selected to compete in the regional playoffs for the right to reach the grand final. They will face off against the top 16 teams that will receive invitations based on their performance in PCS5 Americas. If, for some reason, one of the participants is unable to attend the event, then it will be replaced by the next best team from the quarter-finals, which will meet all the requirements. 24 teams (16 teams from PCS 5 Americas + 8 best quarter-final participants) will be divided into 3 groups of 8 participants each. Each group will play 6 matches per day, making the playoffs a three-day event.

Playoff schedule

• Day One: Group A vs Group B - February 18
• Day 2: Group B vs Group C - February 19
• Day 3: Group C vs Group A - February 20

As a result, a leaderboard will be compiled that will receive invitations to the ESL PUBG Masters Americas Phase 1 Grand Final. It will be made up of the top 10 teams in North America and the top 6 teams in South America.

The Grand Final will be the longest stage. It will run for two weeks. Each week there will be 3 game days. Each day will have 5 matches. The total prize fund of the grand final will be $50,000.
