PUBG Update 42.3: Archivist & Survivor Crates Removed with G-Coin Refunds

PUBG: BATTLEGROUNDS developers have announced the scope and details of upcoming changes to the Workshop, effective with the release of September Update 42.3 (previously announced in the July store update). Archivist Chests, Survivor Chests, and several premium bundles are being permanently removed from the game, with players receiving compensation in G-Coin and Artisan Tokens.

Here is a detailed breakdown of the payouts and removal mechanics.

Item Removal Mechanics and Compensation

Owners of the affected crates and bundles will automatically receive compensation with the September patch:

• Single Crates: Any Archivist or Survivor Crates in your inventory will be removed, and their equivalent value in G-Coin will be credited to your balance.
• Bundles containing Survivor Crates: The contents of these bundles will be updated to exclude Survivor Crates, and players will be refunded the equivalent value of the removed items in G-Coin.
• Bundles containing Archivist Crates: The entire bundle will be removed, with compensation issued for its full value in G-Coin or Artisan Tokens.

Compensation Rates for Crates and Elite Parcels

Survivor Pass Premium Bundle Compensation (PC and Consoles)

Depending on the Survivor Pass series, compensation for crates removed from the bundles will be either 400 G-Coin or 200 G-Coin:

Bundles with 400 G-Coin Compensation:

• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Rondo" (including PUBG - Premium Pack "Rondo")
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Dragon's Rise"
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Comic World"
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Out of Bounds"
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Grunge Queen"

Bundles with 200 G-Coin Compensation:

• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Zero Gravity" (and PUBG - Premium Pack "Zero Gravity")
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Slumber Kingdom of Beasts"
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Let It Snow" (and PUBG - Premium Pack "Let It Snow")
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Keep Your Head Up" (and PUBG - Premium Pack "Keep Your Head Up")
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Steampunk Rebirth" (and PUBG - Premium Pack "Steampunk Rebirth")
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Mogul Fury" (and PUBG - Premium Pack "Mogul Fury")
• Survivor Pass: Premium Pack "Sun Kissed" (and PUBG - Premium Pack "Sun Kissed")

Compensation for Archivist Bundles

For unopened Archivist Crate bundles, Krafton is issuing the following refunds:

• Archivist Crate Pack (1 ea.): 10 Artisan Tokens
• Archivist Crate Bundle: 240 G-Coin
• Archivist Crate Bundle (5 ea.): 900 G-Coin
• Archivist Crate Bundle (10 ea.): 1800 G-Coin
• Archivist Crate Bundle (25 ea.): 5750 G-Coin
• Archivist Crate Bundle (50 ea.): 11 500 G-Coin

What Does This Mean for Players?

Why Krafton decided to completely phase out basic crates remains unclear for now. In essence, removing them eliminates one of the main avenues for players to spend accumulated BP and farm extra rewards from the Survivor Pass.

What the developers will offer in return remains an open question. It is possible Krafton is preparing entirely new crates or intends to transition the system to a ticket format similar to the current Glasia Contenders mechanic. For now, we will have to wait for further official announcements.
