Riot Games Plans Major Changes to Feats of Strength in League of Legends: What to Expect in Patch 15.2

Riot Games is preparing a significant update to the recently introduced "Feats of Strength" system in League of Legends, part of the Season 15 overhaul. Known for implementing substantial gameplay changes with each competitive season, Riot continues its tradition of balancing and refreshing the game. The latest season brought notable shifts, including the introduction of the Atakhan boss monster. However, one of the new season's key features is already slated for adjustment.

The "Feats of Strength" mechanic, introduced alongside the Noxus-themed Season 15, challenges teams to complete two out of three objectives before their opponents. The reward for winning this challenge is the ability to craft Tier 3 boots, offering a significant in-game advantage. The current objectives include securing First Blood, destroying the first turret, and defeating the first three Epic jungle camps. Riot Games now plans to remove the First Blood objective, though the replacement task remains unannounced. This change is expected to roll out in either patch 15.2 or 15.3, according to Lead Gameplay Designer Matt "Phroxzon" Leung-Harrison.

In addition to this upcoming change, Riot Games released several balance updates in patch 15.1b:

Summoner's Rift Adjustments (Normal + Ranked Queues):

• Bloody Roses: Slightly reduced spawn rates from Gloom and Atakhan's Pit.
• Armored Advance/Chainlaced Crushers: Shield amount adjusted to 10-120 (based on level) + 4% max health, with a 15-second cooldown.

Item Tweaks:

• Spellslinger's Shoes: Magic Penetration reduced from 19 to 18; Percentage Magic Penetration lowered from 10% to 8%.
• Swiftmarch: Movement speed decreased from 75 to 70.
• Triumphant Sorcerer's Shoes: Bonus Magic Penetration reduced from 4 to 2; Percentage Magic Penetration lowered from 10% to 8%.

Champion Changes:

• Atakhan: Spawn thresholds for Ruinous Form adjusted for more frequent appearances.
• Jarvan IV: Armor growth decreased from 5.2 to 4.7; Q damage lowered slightly.
• Kayle: Attack speed and damage growth slightly reduced; W movement speed buff slightly increased.
• Seraphine: Health growth increased; E ability damage buffed.
• Vex: Passive and W ability damage scaled up with higher AP ratios.
• Viktor: Health growth reduced; R damage per tick adjusted.
• Ziggs: Q ability AP scaling increased; W cooldown shortened.

The dominance of Tier 3 boots has made the "Feats of Strength" mechanic particularly impactful, often influencing match outcomes. Riot is taking a measured approach by focusing on small, precise balance changes before adjusting core game mechanics.

Beyond League of Legends, Riot Games has ambitious plans for 2025. Following the success of Arcane, Riot is developing new animated series set in the regions of Noxus, Ionia, and Demacia. Additionally, the studio announced a League of Legends-themed trading card game, scheduled for release in 2025. With these projects and continued updates to League of Legends, Riot Games is poised for an exciting year ahead.
