League Classic's FeralPony Names Twisted Treeline, Dominion, and Ascension as Post-Launch Mode Candidates

League Classic project lead FeralPony confirmed that Twisted Treeline, Dominion, and Ascension are the modes Riot is most likely to bring back after launch, responding to a fan question on X rather than teasing a vague roadmap. All three modes were removed from live League of Legends years ago: Twisted Treeline in 2019, Dominion in 2016, and Ascension, the Shurima-set spin on Dominion, faded out not long after its 2014 release.

FeralPony's exact wording left room for change but not much doubt about direction: "We don't have any non Summoners Rift modes currently, but it's highly likely we'll bring in additional modes over time." Riot hasn't attached a timeline or committed to shipping all three, and the team's public focus for now stays on the core Summoner's Rift experience.

That launch experience arrives with more scaffolding than the modes question suggests. League Classic launches on Patch 26.15, July 29 at 15:00 UTC, rebuilding Season 3-era League of Legends inside the current client rather than shipping a standalone app. Launch day covers PvP Draft, Co-op vs. AI, and Custom Games with 60 champions, original items, and the old runes and masteries system. A new voting feature called The Council lets the community help decide which additional champions join the roster after launch, and Riot has already responded to player pushback by making classic-era skins free and automatically enabled, plus committing to restore as many original voice-overs as it can.

The mode question lands the same week Riot's live client kept its own pipeline running. Patch 26.14, which shipped July 15, cut Seraphine's Q ratio and trimmed Senna's passive crit chance the same day her T1 championship skin went on sale, alongside four other T1-themed cosmetics. Running balance patches on the live game and mode reveals on Classic in the same week signals two separate live-service tracks rather than one team splitting its attention.

I read the specific mode names as the real story here, since "more modes eventually" is the kind of line every live-service team says without committing to anything. Naming Twisted Treeline and Dominion by name, unprompted by an official roadmap, tells players Riot is treating League Classic as an archive it can keep drawing from rather than a one-time nostalgia snapshot.
