DICE and Respawn Are Reportedly Develop Star Wars Battlefront 3

Less than a day ago, rumors surfaced that Disney had already started work on the third Star Wars Battlefront entry. A report from insider Jeff Grubb, who spread the rumor, claimed the developer could be either DICE, the studio that made the first two games, or Bungie, the developers behind Destiny. It now looks like the choice has fallen on the tried-and-true studio.

According to the latest update from Joe Brammer, CEO of BULKHEAD and executive producer of Wardogs, Disney has settled on DICE for Star Wars Battlefront 3. He also claims Respawn, which worked on Titanfall and Star Wars Jedi, will help with the project. Brammer seems to be citing internal sources, but Disney hasn’t made any official statement, so this should be treated as a rumor.

DICE and from what I’ve heard Respawn are working on Battlefront 3. Not sure what that means for Battlefield.

I want both Battlefield and Battlefront in the same cycle. Would be awesome. And yes Star Warsdogs does sound cool.

It has been almost 10 years since Star Wars Battlefront II came out, and it will be interesting to see what the new game is like. Recent Star Wars games have done very well, notably Star Wars: Zero Company by Bit Reactor and Star Wars: Galactic Racer by Fuse Games. Critics massively praised both, and Lucasfilm Vice President Douglas Reilley even hinted that more Star Wars games could come from smaller studios, as long as the project sparks enough interest and has an unusual concept.

Speaking of Respawn, another rumor claims the studio is actively working on Star Wars Jedi 3. Insider FivesWalker added that an official announcement will come this year and the game will be released next year. If that is true, the project is likely already in its final stages of development.

As for other Star Wars games, Arcanaut Studios is working on a new RPG, Star Wars: Fate of the Old Republic, while the long-troubled Star Wars Eclipse at Quantic Dream and Knights of the Old Republic Remake from Saber Interactive/Mad Head Games are still in development. On the film side, recent reports confirmed that Jon Watts, best known for the MCU’s Spider-Man trilogy, will direct the next movie, expected to be the next entry in the Skywalker Saga.
