Lucasfilm Teases More Games on Star Wars Will Be Released in the Future

This year, the Star Wars franchise got two new games: Zero Company and Galactic Racer. Different studios developed them, and both were very well reviewed by critics and gamers alike. It seems like Lucasfilm keeps taking this approach with new Star Wars projects.

At least, that is what Lucasfilm Games VP Douglas Reilley hinted at in a recent interview with The Game Business, which he did together with Fuse Games boss Matt Webster. Reilley revealed that, given how Star Wars: Zero Company and Star Wars: Galactic Racer were received, the company may give lesser-known studios a chance to make new projects, as long as they have unique ideas that spark interest and show the universe from a new angle. You can check out his fuller comments below:

"I think we’ve tried to be more flexible about like...who we’re willing to take pitches from and good ideas can come from a lot of different places. You don’t have to necessarily be a top five publisher to make a great Star Wars game. We have a high quality bar and we want to make sure there excellent experiences and that means typically you work with more experienced teams than, you know, new teams who have no track record of of making great things.

We’re exploring all kinds of things that large and small with partners that I think are going to continue to surprise folks who are like, ‘Oh, they’re doing a thing with them. That might be interesting to see how that turns out.'"

Star Wars: Zero Company, released in late August, is a tactical strategy in the vein of XCOM 2. Bit Reactor developed the game, and it has a score of 85 on both Metacritic and OpenCritic. Last week, it also reached 1 million copies sold across all platforms. Star Wars: Galactic Racer, developed by Fuse Games, got even higher praise from critics and is one of the best racing games of 2026. There are no official sales figures yet.

Even though Lucasfilm’s vice president claimed more Star Wars games may come, other games in the franchise have been in development for a long time, and their status leaves much to be desired. Examples are Star Wars Eclipse from Quantic Dream and Knights of the Old Republic Remake from Saber Interactive. It would be good if these projects got some positive news too, and fans really hope they won’t be canceled.
