Zach Cregger Wants Lady Dimitrescu to Appear in Resident Evil Movie—and He Knows Who Should Play Her

A new Resident Evil adaptation, directed by Zach Cregger—known for films such as Barbarian and Weapons—premiered this week in cinemas. Although the film is not a direct adaptation of any particular game, and Cregger has set the Raccoon City incident in 2026, this has not prevented it from receiving extremely positive reviews from critics and audiences alike.

In an interview with Pedestrian TV, Zach Cregger shared his thoughts on who he believes should play Lady Dimitrescu—one of the most memorable villains in the history of Resident Evil—on the big screen. The director’s choice fell on Christina Hendricks, best known for her roles in the TV series Mad Men and Good Girls. In his view, the actress is the perfect fit for the part. It is possible this was a hint from the director himself about a potential future adaptation of Resident Evil Village.

Zach Cregger picks Christina Hendricks as his ideal Lady Dimitrescu for a Live-Action Resident Evil Movie

During a promotional interview, Zach Cregger, the director of the new RESIDENT EVIL movie, revealed who he would cast as the iconic Lady Dimitrescu if he were to make a Resident Evil Village movie: actress Christina Hendricks, known for her roles in Mad Men and Good Girls.

"I think that feels about right to me."

The statement reinforces the director’s interest in exploring other corners of the Resident Evil universe beyond his current film, which premiered on September 18.

As for the recently released Resident Evil, the film has been a truly spectacular success. It is the highest-rated film based on the franchise and one of the highest-rated video game adaptations. Its critics’ score on Rotten Tomatoes currently stands at 95%, while its audience score is 91%. It has also been reported Resident Evil’s box office takings in the US amount to approximately $53–60 million —a record for both the franchise and Zach Cregger’s career.

It will be interesting to see whether Zach Cregger will continue to adapt the franchise using his own approach. Likewise, it clearly worked for the first film, and fans wouldn’t mind seeing that very adaptation of Resident Evil Village, with Christina Hendricks as Lady Dimitrescu. Not to mention that Inde Navarrette, star of the horror film Obsession, recently expressed a desire to appear in a Resident Evil film —and that would certainly please any fan.
