Obsession Star Inde Navarrette Wants A Resident Evil Role

Inde Navarrette told Variety she has been approached about voice acting for games, that she starts "soon", and that the franchise she wants is Resident Evil. She named no projects.

The interview with Tiana DeNicola was recorded in late July. Navarrette said she has been playing the Resident Evil games lately and wants to begin with something small rather than a lead.

When DeNicola called the idea perfect for her, Navarrette answered "I would die inside." The conversation moved to film, where she asked whether anyone had made a Resident Evil movie yet. Zach Cregger's adaptation arrives in theatres this September, and she said she would buy a ticket.

Obsession is what put her in a position to ask for things. The horror film was made for $750,000, picked up by Focus Features, and has taken more than $200 million since its May release, with first-time director Curry Barker. Navarrette plays Nikki, a woman who turns erratic after a friend wishes for her to fall in love with him.

Fans went looking and found her Twitch channel. Old streams of Call of Duty, Outlast and The Last of Us circulated far enough that PlayStation UK replied with "We're obsessed", and a partial The Last of Us playthrough reposted to YouTube passed 650,000 views in three days. The VODs are gone from Twitch now.

Speaking to GQ, Navarrette said she started on the PlayStation 2 with party games alongside her mother and older brother, then broke off to play campaigns by herself. Red Dead Redemption 2 and The Last of Us came later, along with a Call of Duty habit long enough that a fan sent her a sealed 2009 copy of Modern Warfare 2.

I'm not the audience Capcom usually wins. Precision horror combat is not where my hours go, and I'd take an open road over a corridor most days. But the shelf she describes, Red Dead and The Last of Us, is my shelf, and I'd play a Resident Evil with her voice in it on that basis alone.

Resident Evil 4 sales reached an estimated 16.8 million copies and roughly $560 million gross, which makes it the best-selling remake of this console generation. The series moved more than 23 million copies between March 2025 and March 2026, and Requiem became the fastest-selling entry in franchise history. Producer Masachika Kawata has confirmed that Resident Evil games will be released annually, alternating new entries with remakes so the schedule does not collapse under itself.

Requiem was also named the best game of 2026 by Empire, ahead of Saros and Forza Horizon 6 on the magazine's half-year list. Capcom has already shipped Requiem, Pragmata and Monster Hunter Stories 3 this year, with Onimusha still to come, so there is no shortage of recording booths to walk into.

Resident Evil Veronica is the next remake, due in 2027 on PC, PS5, Xbox Series X/S and Switch 2, from the team behind the RE2 and RE4 rebuilds. Veronica was built alongside Requiem rather than after it, so a first booking from Navarrette is more likely to surface somewhere later in Capcom's slate.

Navarrette has not said which project comes first, and games are not the only queue she is in. She met X-Men director Jake Schreier about playing Mystique, so any Capcom booking has to fit around a Marvel timeline.
