Hideo Kojima Shared Update on His Upcoming Horror Title, OD

As is well known, the legendary game designer Hideo Kojima is continuing to work on his new projects. One of these is a horror game titled OD, being developed in collaboration with Xbox, which will serve as the game’s publisher. During a recent presentation, Kojima spoke about the current stage of development of his upcoming project.

During the Xbox presentation at this week’s Tokyo Game Show 2026, Hideo Kojima confirmed the development of OD is continuing. Specifically, he noted motion capture work involving actors has resumed following the end of the SAG union strike – consequently, the confirmed cast members, Sophia Lillis and Hunter Schafer, have returned to work on the project. Unfortunately, he did not give any approximate dates for when OD will be revealed in more detail, but mentioned that he is eager to show it to players.

During the event, Kojima also made an important announcement about his other upcoming project – Physint. He confirmed Bill Skarsgård, best known for playing Pennywise in the It films based on Stephen King’s novel, has been cast in the lead role. Meanwhile, Charlee Fraser, Minami Hamabe and Don Lee will also star in Physint. Last week, it became known Physint, like OD, will also be published by Xbox, as PlayStation declined to fund Kojima’s new project.

As for OD, there have recently been rumors the game might be released as early as next spring, but given Kojima’s recent comments, this seems highly unlikely, especially as work on the motion capture hasn’t even been completed yet. Details about the project are scarce, but the game designer previously stated he wants to make a “unique take on the genre”. Jordan Peele—director of such horror films as Get Out and Us—is also involved in the project. The release date for OD and the platforms on which it will be available remain unknown.
