Hideo Kojima’s Physint Cast Bill Skarsgård in a Lead Role

Hideo Kojima is deep into work on his next projects, and as he's described it himself, Physint, which is one of two, is set to be the culmination of his entire career. Now, details are starting to emerge about which actors are in the project.

On social media, Hideo Kojima announced Bill Skarsgård, best known for playing Pennywise in the Stephen King's IT adaptations, will lead the cast of Physint. Also joining are Charlee Fraser (Furiosa: A Mad Max Saga), Minami Hamabe (Godzilla Minus One), and Don Lee, who previously appeared in Kojima's Death Stranding 2: On the Beach. New Physint posters have also been released, looking more like movie promo art than typical game marketing, as you can check out below.

With MetaHuman and Xbox partnership involved, this could be Kojima’s most cinematic game yet.

Physint made headlines last week, following reports that Kojima Productions and PlayStation Studios had parted ways, reportedly over the project going significantly over budget. Xbox has since stepped in as publisher, marking the second Kojima title under its banner after the horror game OD. Rumors have also pointed to a possible spring release for OD, though it should be considered with a grain of salt

Beyond that, Physint is believed to still be early in development, and platforms haven't been confirmed. It’s a tactical spy-stealth action game, widely seen as a potential spiritual successor to Metal Gear Solid, the franchise developed by Hideo Kojima as well. The game designer itself previously described Physint as blending games and cinema through interactive gameplay, photorealistic visuals, and Hollywood actors. With the PlayStation partnership over, though, Kojima reportedly won't have access to the Decima engine used in Death Stranding, meaning Physint, like OD, may end up being built on Unreal Engine 5 instead, a shift that could meaningfully affect development going forward.
