Strauss Zelnick Teases the PC Version of GTA 6

In just under two months, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S owners will finally get to play GTA 6, undoubtedly 2026's most anticipated game. PC players, following the pattern set by previous mainline entries, will likely have to wait longer. GTA 6 for PC hasn't even been officially confirmed yet, but a new hint suggests it might actually land sooner than many expect.

A few hours ago, Take-Two Interactive held its annual shareholders meeting, where one shareholder asked CEO Strauss Zelnick about the PlayStation 5 Pro shortage and its effect on gaming PC supply chains. In the context of GTA 6, Zelnick offered an interesting response, which you can check out in full below, as reported by GamesRadar+.

“I assume this is a question regarding the cadence of PC launches. The strategy of the company is, over time, generally speaking, to launch for any platforms for which there's a meaningful audience. But that isn't always the case, and certainly, if platforms were no longer viable, we could change that strategy.

And I would note that the PC platform is becoming more and more important to our company over time.”

Recently, it was already speculated the PC version of GTA 6 could arrive earlier than expected, given the current instability in the console market, a point partly raised in that very question to Zelnick. There's also a growing belief the game will only truly hit its technical stride on PC, potentially outperforming even the PS5 Pro version.

It’s worth noting GTA 5, celebrating its 13th anniversary today, has sold extremely well on PC and continues to. According to Sensor Tower, more than 50 million copies have moved on Steam alone, combining both Grand Theft Auto V Legacy and Grand Theft Auto V Enhanced. And a large share of players still waiting on GTA 6 are PC users.

Alongside the game itself, Rockstar Games has also announced physical vinyl releases of the soundtrack in three editions, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
