GTA 6 Online Is Rumored to Launch in 2027

GTA 6, Rockstar Games upcoming release, has been confirmed to include a multiplayer mode, though official details remain scarce. The studio has repeatedly framed Grand Theft Auto VI as a single-player experience throughout its marketing so far, without mentioning multiplayer at all, suggesting, much like with GTA Online, that mode will likely arrive sometime after the main game launches.

A new interview offers another clue on timing. In a recent Bloomberg article, Twitch CEO Dan Clancy claimed GTA 6's multiplayer mode is set for release in 2027, also touching on how the game's November launch is expected to drive viewership growth on the platform. “We spent a lot of time talking with Rockstar about their plans, and also helping them think about how they can engage our creators. You are going to see this big bump with GTA 6, but then an even bigger one next year when they launch multiplayer.”

That said, this obviously isn't official confirmation, since neither Rockstar nor Take-Two has made any such announcement. But Clancy did note he's personally met with the developers, so he may be speaking from more than just guesswork. Forbes has also reported separately GTA 6 Online could land sometime in 2027 or even 2028, pointing to GTA Online's continued massive profits and the amount of time Rockstar likely needs to get the mode right. A separate leak has also suggested GTA 6 Online lobbies supporting up to 32 players.

Rockstar Games has also announced physical releases of the GTA 6’s soundtrack in three editions, Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album.
